More People Evacuated When Flood Improves In Kuala Krai and Rantau Panjang

Some areas in Rantau Panjang are still flooded when water from the Golok river spills its banks. The areas affected are those in the low-lying areas near the river. But in Kuala Krai, Operation at relief centre has stopped with the flood situation in the district having improved.

A spokesman at the state flood operations control room said the number of flood victims rose to 440 people from 344 victims. He said, “The situation has led to the opening of two more relief centres in Rantau Panjang, at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Gual Tinggi and at the Rantau Panjang railway station.”

He also said the water level at the Golok River had exceeded the danger level and rising, while at other rivers, the water had risen to above the normal level, except the Sungai Kelantan at Guillemard bridge, which was above the alert level.
